Hello and welcome to our exclusive digital platform offering plenty of inspiration on all things travel, art, fashion, food and more
Change is in the air as we introduce our second issue of Rotana Lifestyle. The change in seasons is evident as mercury levels climb in this part of the world. Here, in the UAE, Expo 2020 Dubai has drawn to a close after its six-month celebration of art, culture, innovation, architecture and so much more. And finally, around the world, Ramadan is being observed by many, which, in the region means that daylight hours move more slowly before the sun sets and iftar brings family and friends together around the table.
As we inch closer to summer, new memories are on the horizon as the season brings with it opportunities to discover new locales, take a break from the grind and refresh the mind! But no matter what you're seeking, inspiration can always be found through our exclusive edit of the best things to do in the region through the months of April, May and June.
A key focus in this edit is our shining cover star – Dubai's newly opened Museum of the Future. A fitting landmark in a city that's known for its future-focused philosophy, a single visit is enough to inspire visitors to take action towards a brighter future for the planet and for humanity. Immersive exhibits – which are far from the typical notion of a museum – are carefully curated to offer visitors a glimpse into what our world will look like in 2071 by taking them on a journey through space and through dense rainforests, showcasing some of the best technical innovations before they get a chance to truly disconnect in an oasis of wellness. To help you discover more about the attraction before your visit, we showcase some of the top experiences at the Museum of the Future.
Further highlighting the future landscape of our region, we showcase some of the top landmarks and attractions set to open across the Middle East within the next decade. With summer holidays on the cards, this edition brings to you an array of destinations to choose from. For something closer to home, Ras Al Khaimah beckons with its thrilling offering that combines adventure in the mountains with beachside luxury; while further afield, Saudi Arabia's tourism offering is burgeoning. The roaring capital of Riyadh offers the best of culture, heritage and plenty of modern charm while the historic city of AlUla invites visitors to travel back in time and walk in the footsteps of the region's early inhabitants.
Beyond the region, France is gearing up to welcome the who's who of the cinematic universe as Cannes Film Festival gets underway this May. A celebration of the art of filmmaking, it is equally a platform showcasing what fashion trends will go on to dictate our wardrobe choices for the season. And so we bring to you some of the most memorable red carpet moments of all time, before taking the concept of French Riviera chic further in our edit of the most fashionable finds for him and her this season.
On behalf of the entire team, I look forward to welcoming you to a Rotana hotel very soon and hope you enjoy browsing this edition of Rotana Lifestyle.
With kind regards,
Guy Hutchinson
